Simple Concept, Advanced Technology

Evolving from ultra-modern rail designs, SUTRAK introduced all-electric ACE™ bus HVAC technology to the US transit market in 2002. Since then, the company has pursued a strategy of continuous improvement making SUTRAK the industry leader in energy-efficient bus air conditioning systems. ACE™ incorporates technological improvements which demonstrate measurable efficiencies over traditional bus air conditioning designs.

With a simple concept and advanced technology, ACE™ is in many ways similar to modern air conditioning for light rail vehicles and automated people movers. When a power source is available (hybrid electric or fuel cell), the electric HVAC system operates straight from the on-board source. When no electric source is available, SUTRAK patented AC-voltage, brushless air-cooled generator is integrated to power the system.

ACE™ bus systems are self-contained. All refrigerant runs are restricted to the HVAC unit, substantially reducing the potential for leaks to the environment.

ACE™ bus systems utilize Hermetically-sealed scroll compressors. This superior compressor technology features quieter operation, longer duty cycles, and reduced power consumption.

ACE™ bus systems without an onboard electric power source feature the exclusive SUTRAK alternating current (AC) generator. This generator features minimal maintenance and draws 50% less power from the vehicle motor, significantly reducing fuel consumption.

ACE™ bus systems with the shore power option allow fleet pre-cooling (and heating with electric heat option) without running vehicle motors, allowing the use of renewable energy sources.

The implications of this system are far-reaching. Transit agencies enjoy reduced fuel costs and maintenance requirements, and the environment enjoys lower fuel use and associated green house gas emissions.
